About Tangerine: Both Citrus reticulate and Citrus tangerine are closely related species where former can be considered sub-species of the later though still some confusion prevails over the exact scientific nomenclatures which can be used in this regard. Tangerines are very similar to oranges but little smaller in size and easier to peel and split. Tangerines can be peeled open and eaten out of hands and can also be used in salads, desserts and main dishes. Tangerine juice is also very common in many countries.
History of Tangerine: History of Tangerines would take us some 3000 years back when these were cultivated in China and referred to a Mandarin Orange. During early 19th century these oranges were taken to Europe and from there to America, a little later. There are many different varieties of Tangerines and they come is various shapes and sizes.
