About Apricot: Apricot is part of the Rosaceae family which has other members such as peach, plum, apple, pears, etc. Apricot oil is derived from the kernel of this fruit. On average oil content found in Apricot Kernel is in that range of 40 to 50 percent. Major application areas of apricot oil are the skin care products.
History of Apricot Oil: The history of Apricot oil would take us back to around 3000 BC when ancient Chinese medicine started using Apricot Oil in combination of various others herbs to treat nephritis and other problems related to respiratory system. It was from China that this oil gradually made its journey towards west, reaching England in the beginning of 16th century. The value of this oil in Europe around this time was very similar to that of Gold.

By 16th century Apricots were being cultivated all through Europe and were in great demand. From Europe this fruit founds it way to the shores of America and Mexico. Spanish were more instrumental in taking this fruit to South and North America from Europe.
Properties of Apricot Oil: The major chemical constituents of Apricot oil are in form of unsaturated fats: oleic acid and linoleic acid. This oil is pale yellow to deep gold in colour and obtained by pressing of apricot kernel.
